We’re back this week on the Giftloop blog with another great money-making opportunity. If you’re interested in making money from home and you have even a slight interest in video games, this opportunity could be great for you.
Flipping Video Games: The Basics
Flipping video games is the art of buying video games (and equipment) and selling for a profit. There are lots of strategies for this. We’ll highlight just two. One is easy to do, but profits are slim. The other is harder, but profits are higher.
Method #1: Buying on the Cheap
The first method is easier to do, though your profits won’t be as high. In this method, you simply look for any opportunity to buy video games, systems or accessories on the cheap. Garage sales, Craigslist and social media selling groups are great places to do this. You might also catch a store doing a deep discount or going out of business.
Stores like GameStop will take just about any games and consoles as trade-ins. Check current values online before you buy, and buy anything that you can get for less than GameStop will give you.
If you know your stuff, you can try your hand at selling more desirable or collectible gear (like vintage systems or limited editions) on eBay or similar sites. If you have the right items, you could make more this way.
Method #2: Buying What’s Hot
This second method is harder to do, but your profit potential is higher. With this method, you buy or preorder what’s hot in the hopes that it becomes hard to find. When a new console or a limited edition game is released, the resale value on sites like eBay can get pretty high. If you manage to pre-order a few copies, you can make a tidy sum selling some of them to those who didn’t plan as well as you.
